Overview
Gauge Is the Decision. Everything Else Is Bench Work.
An Essix retainer is a thermoformed shell over the finished arch. There is not much to get wrong in the making — which is why the specification you send matters more than anything we do at the bench.
We form it in the Essix material and thickness you specify, trim it to the line you want, and check the fit on the model. Send the gauge with the case. If you want a recommendation for a particular patient, ask us — but we will not quietly pick one for you.
-
Heavier gauge: More rigid and longer-lasting — for a patient who is hard on appliances.
-
Lighter gauge: More comfortable and less bulky — a retainer that gets worn beats a durable one in a drawer.
